How to add a "Made by" badge to WordPress
The simplest way on a self-hosted WordPress site is a header and footer plugin, so the badge survives theme updates.
No badge yet? Create one in about a minute. It's free and needs no account.
Create your badgeSteps
- 1
Create your badge in the Maker Badge editor and copy your code.
- 2
In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New and install a header/footer plugin such as WPCode.
- 3
Open the plugin's "Header & Footer" screen.
- 4
Paste the code into the Footer box and save.
- 5
Visit your site: the badge appears on every page.
What the code looks like
An updatable badge is a single line like this (the editor gives you yours). The self-contained version is longer but works the same way.
<script src="https://madebybadge.netlify.app/v1/badge.js" data-badge="YOUR_BADGE_ID" async></script>Good to know
- On WordPress.com, installing plugins needs a plan that supports plugins.
- Prefer plugins over editing your theme's footer.php: theme updates overwrite that file.
Not showing up?
- Check the published site, not an editor preview: most builders only run custom code on the live site.
- Make sure the whole snippet was pasted, including the closing </script> tag.
- Use "Test page" in the Maker Badge code dialog to confirm the badge itself works.
